Callie, you're the love of my life. My joy. My favorite client. I've loved you since the day I met you in your moms' backyard, and you gave me such a hard time. I want to share every sunrise and sunset with you. I want to support you in achieving your dreams. I want to have a family and grow old together. You're my heart, my soul, my everything. Callie Adams Foster, will you make me the happiest man alive? Will you marry me?
Jamie to Callie[1]

Callie and Jamie also referred to as Jallie is the romantic pairing between Callie Adams Foster and Jamie Hunter.

Their relationship originally began in "The Fosters", when Jamie's sister married Callie's adoptive brother. When Callie moved to LA they began a friends-with-benefits relationship. They eventually evolved into an exclusive-committed relationship.

Their relationship fell apart when Callie stole confidential documents from his briefcase to help potentially homeless tenants. Things reached a breaking point and they ended their relationship, with Callie moving out of their apartment.

The pair have a long and complicated history, but shared the happiest moments of their adult lives with one another. No matter the circumstances that drive that apart, whether it be political disagreements or fights over their ethics, they continue to be drawn back together.

Callie and Jamie ended up on opposing ends of the courtroom more than once, which led them to break up. They are serendipitously reunited on an airplane to their new jobs in Washington D.C., and get back together. Jamie proposed to Callie and she accepted. They had their engagement party in "All These Engagements".

Overview[]

Jamie and Callie first met in "Meet the Fosters" at Eliza and Brandon's engagement party. They talked about being lawyers, with Callie finishing up her last year at UCSD and about to begin clerking while Jamie was working with a law firm. They bickered playfully over politics since Jamie is a corporate lawyer while Callie wanted to do the opposite. Jamie and Callie entered a non-committed relationship where Callie was romantically involved with fellow Coterie resident, Gael Martinez. When Jamie and Gael both no longer wanted to be non-exclusive, Callie was forced to choose between the men and chose Jamie.

In "Turn and Face the Strange", the jury came to a verdict of not guilty. Outside, Jamie gets a coffee when he bumps into Callie. He congratulates her but believes there's more to the story. There was a moment when Tommy seemed coached on something, and he doesn't trust anyone who can cry on cue. The feds arrived looking for Kathleen. She has 24 hours before they issue an arrest warrant for both Kathleen and Callie.

Jamie and Callie sit at the bar as they talk about ending up on opposite sides of the case. He thinks the universe keeps pushing them together. She's been thinking about how she can be a little "my way or the highway" and held everyone to a standard. She realizes they exist in the gray. She tells Jamie that she's learned she has to do things she doesn't feel good about for a client. She apologizes for how she handled his situation with the Anwei account and betraying his trust. He's learned that betraying personal ethics isn't always justified. He still loves her and she still loves him, too. They hold hands and she admits she can't jump from one relationship to another, as she needs to figure out herself and what she's doing first. He understands and supports her, as he has his own soul searching to do. She's been thinking if this is as good as it will get for her, and it might not be. Maybe she can have the moon and the stars if she finds the courage to reach for them. She might need to make big life changes to do that. He asks her how big, and she admits they're big.

Quotes[]

Jamie: Why do you assume all corporate lawyers are charlatans?
Callie: Why do you feel that you need to mansplain what my job is as a lawyer?
-- "Meet the Fosters"
Jamie: What are you trying to do besides doing everything in your power to make me feel like a masochist for wanting to get to know you?
Callie: It's just been a while since I've been interested in anybody.
-- "Meet the Fosters"

Jamie: Congratulations! Wow, so, San Francisco. It's very damp up there, lots of humidity very few good hair days.
Callie: Well, I'll just have to suffer through.
Jamie: LA, however, both year-round hair days. In which you could possibly have a progressive influence on a conservative judge. As opposed to you know, taking the path of least resistance with Angleman who's already fighting the good fight without you. And then there's the added bonus of me living in LA, so uh... You already have a friend. Even though I am working for the Evil Empire.
Callie smiles and kisses him
-- "Turks & Caicos"

Callie: Sorry I'm always asking for your advice.
Jamie: You paid a hefty retainer.
Callie: Best dollar I ever spent.
Jamie: So, it's customary, by the way, for me to take out new clients. You know, wine and dine them, make sure they're happy with the service.
Callie: I am happy with the service.
Jamie: Between work, the bar, and conspiracy theories about your boss. If you want a distraction, consider me on call.
Jamie: Oh, uh, Gael. Just a friend? Not my business I'd just like to know who I'm up against.
Callie: Well, we are seeing other people. If that's what you're asking.}}
Callie: If your free later, maybe we can grab dinner.
Jamie: Uh, no, I'm not free. But I'm willing to cancel my plans for you.
--"Imposter"

Jamie: I really care about you.
Callie: I care about you too.
Jamie: And I love... that you're so passionate about Jamal's family getting a fair trial. Please do not do anything impulsive that you might regret for the rest of your life.
-- "Vitamin C"

Jamie: I just want to protect you. Because I... I love you.
-- "Percussions"

Callie: After everything that happened to me today, I don't know what I'm doing. I don't want to say that I don't want to be with you. I need some time and space to get my shit together, but I understand if you can't give that to me.
Jamie: Is this your way of making me break up with you so you don't have to do it?
Callie: No. No, it's not. I promise.
Jamie: Then take the time you need.
-- "Torn"

Jamie: Being with you feels like Christmas Day every day.
--"A Very Coterie Christmas"
Jamie: The big part of this gift is underneath the velvet. Callie Adams Foster you already have the key to my heart, have a key to my place where you're welcome anytime. The fob to your heart.
Callie: You're cheesy.
Jamie: I know. You like it.
-- "A Very Coterie Christmas"

Callie: I've been thinking about how I can be a little my way or the highway and I've held everyone up to this black and white standard, but I think we all really just exist in the gray. I guess what I'm trying to say is I've learned that sometimes when you represent a client you have to do things you don't feel good about, and I judged you for that with the Onway situation, and I betrayed your trust, and I'm sorry.
Jamie: I have also learned that betraying your personal ethics isn't always justified even in the pursuit of representing a client and that sometimes you need someone who keeps you accountable.
Jamie: I still love you, you know.
Callie: I still love you, too. I can't keep jumping from one relationship to another. I need to figure out who I am and what I'm really doing.
Jamie: Yeah, I understand. I support you with that. I got my own soul searching to do.
-- "Turn and Face the Strange"

Callie: I guess this universe has conspired again.
Jamie: Is this seat taken?
-- "Kiss Me and Smile For Me"
